I want to welcome all of our new and returning families to the 2018-2019 school year. I hope that you had a great break with the opportunity to renew and enjoy the pleasures of family and relaxation.
I look forward to an amazing new school year. I am confident that this year will be even more exciting than last year and filled with rewarding and challenging experiences. I wanted to confirm to you my commitment to the scholars of Worthington Elementary.
As I look back on last year, our first year together, I see a year that was filled with enthusiasm and success. I want to continue building on that success and reflect on how we can challenge ourselves to be a more cohesive learning community. This year, our emphasis will be working with Cycles of Inquiry, Collaboration, and Shared Leadership to meet the challenges ahead.
All of us at Worthington Elementary are eager and excited to begin what promises to be the best year ever. This year is going to be amazing as we continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections. We will accomplish this by focusing on IUSD 100% Commitment to Excellence, Collaboration, and Wellness.
We will achieve these commitments by immersing ourselves into our newly created and adopted 2019-2024 Strategic Plan: The Inglewood Graduate; Ready from Day One!
As a learning community we will be taking a deep dive into the structure of the Strategic Plan:
Equity Principle, Mission, Core Belief
Goals and Measures of Student Progress
Our 2024 Commitments
Our Four Pillars
Professional Practices for Instructional Effectiveness
Aligning the Instructional Core
Our Roadmap: Twelve Strategic Priorities
As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors – teachers, students, and parents – are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment.
In our handbook, you will find the answers to many questions about our school policies and procedures. Please read it carefully and keep it in a safe place for reference throughout the year.
Stay in communication with your child’s teacher through face-to-face conferences, phone calls, email, or in written communication. You will also receive a weekly school messenger so make sure we have an accurate phone number on file in the main office.
The support from our families is essential to every staff member at Worthington. Do not hesitate to contact me or any of our staff if you have any questions or concerns. My door is always open, and I welcome your input. Remember that your child’s success depends on us working as a TEAM!
I look forward to collaborating with you, as a team, to help each scholar at Worthington Elementary meet their educational goals and have a successful school year!
